What does the best by date mean?Updated a year ago

Hello! So, this is not an expiration date - the spices will still be fresh and perfectly fine to use for the next couple years! We put the best by date purely as a "suggestive framework". To provide additional context, most spices that you buy in the grocery store are already 5-10 years old by the time you purchase them, whereas we only sell spices from this years or previous year's harvest from our farm partners. 

In the natural course of things, spices will start losing flavor or color, as time passes but we also pay attention to methods of processing which also aid with flavor and preservation. We hope this helps reassure you!
